So I’ve decided I’m going to go on an alcohol detox until New Years Eve. Everyone I have told so far doesn’t think I can do it but they did, however, wish me luck. If there is one thing that I know about myself it is that my will power is nearly indestructible. If I say I’m going to do something, I go through with it 100% of the way, no bullshit and no excuses.
The reason behind this detox is something I’m actually confused about. As many of you may know, carbohydrates and protein contain four calories per gram, while fats contain nine. Alcohol on the other hand has seven calories per gram, and is processed differently from the other macro-nutrients. Alcohol is not considered an essential nutrient. When ingested, your body usually recognizes alcohol as a toxin and works really hard to remove it from your system.
The funny part is, knowing this information is not what caused my brain to randomly say “I’m going to stop drinking until New Years Eve!” It really was just one of those random thoughts that I have now vowed to follow through with. My journey began last night after I had finished off my last beer, a delicious Killkenny it was. I will be keeping you guys updated throughout the months to come on how I am doing and what kind of physical improvements I encounter.
